Editing/Proofreading
Along with translation services there are two more very popular language services – proofreading (proof-reading) and editing. These services (separate or combined) are the necessary part of the translation process. Actually, every translation should be proofread before the final delivery to a client.
If combined, this service includes translation correction, as well as correction of spelling errors, grammar errors, punctuation errors, style errors, checking for consistency and proper formatting. After this procedure the text is ready for delivery to the end client.
If these procedures are separated – editing services deal with correction of the target text against the source text; and proofreading services deal with final correction of target text that was already edited (source text is not necessary, as all the translation, grammar or style errors were corrected by the editor).
Often both editing and proofreading are done by one person and the process is called ‘proofreading’ (or proof-reading).
I offer such services as English to Russian proofreading, English to Russian editing, English to Ukrainian proofreading, and English to Ukrainian editing. These services are the mandatory part of my translation process; after translating a text I thoroughly read through and make amendments to the translated text (of course, it is FREE of charge).
